Loan borrowing and limited branding: can they help to save time and money?

We have been working with Ozyegin University over the last 18 months to model in which proportions a large and coordinated usage of a loan borrowing mechanism between humanitarian actors could save time and money during a response. The study also examines the impact of keeping stock branded or unbranded, either totally or partially.

In this session, the preliminary outcomes of the study will be presented. The audience will have the opportunity to test these results and adjust the variables to see how they would impact on their own pre-positioned stocks.

Recommendations for a coordinated pre-positioning strategy in Nepal

The ESUPS project recently released a report containing recommendations for establishing a national coordinated pre-positioning strategy for Nepal.

In this session, ESUPS will explain how the report was put together, from the interaction with humanitarian actors in Nepal to the final structure and outcomes of the report.

The session will also provide a demonstration of the analysis tool used by ESUPS, elaborated by Penn State University. This tool will allow national actors to see which warehouses in the country are overstocked or understocked, where are the gaps and what would be the cost implications to implement the recommendations provided by ESUPS.
