Organized by Airlink, the Pacific Logistics Workshop brought together humanitarian logisticians to strengthen capacity in the Pacific region. Participants identified collective challenges and shared operational experiences on transportation and access, anticipatory actions, stock prepositioning, customs and other topics.
ESUPS participated in the workshop with the objective of advancing discussions on humanitarian stock prepositioning. During a presentation on Tuesday April 21, Florent Chane, Project Manager, reminded the participants that the Pacific region was the birthplace of the STOCKHOLM platform.
“As a global initiative focused on supporting the definition of national and regional collective stock prepositioning strategies, ESUPS believes that the Pacific region can effectively demonstrates more collaborative practices in humanitarian logistics”, Florent Chane, ESUPS Project Manager
Following the workshop, ESUPS welcomed the Salvation Army, the Nazarene Health Ministries and the Humanitarian Assistance & Disaster Relief Institute as new users to the STOCKHOLM platform.
On the last day of the workshop, Thursday 23 April, participants agreed on specific, actionable, and realistic commitments aimed at promoting stronger collaboration and advancing humanitarian logistics preparedness in the region.
“We asked every single participant to make one request for support from the organisations present here and make one tangible pledge of an action they will take to carry the momentum forward”, Brigid McKeon, Associate Director of Partnerships at Airlink
ESUPS’ participation in the workshop was made possible through the support of Airlink, which facilitated travel to the event as part of its mission to connect humanitarian organizations with donated air transport. Through its global network of commercial airline partners, Airlink helps humanitarian actors move responders and critical aid quickly and efficiently.
