The Quality, Social and Environmental Working Group brings together leading humanitarian organizations to strengthen collaboration in the procurement of relief items with regards to quality, social and environmental aspects. Our mission is to strengthen humanitarian procurement through harmonized specifications, joint action and practical innovation, making relief items more reliable, ethical and sustainable for people in need.

What we do

A central pillar of the group’s work is the development and continuous improvement of Unified Technical Specifications (UTS) for core relief items. These specifications provide a common framework that defines quality, performance, and compliance requirements, enabling organizations to procure items that are fit for purpose, comparable across agencies, and aligned with international standards.
