Nepal, that saw preparedness measures being implemented prior to the 2015 earthquake, became a country of focus right after the Philippines for two reasons: firstly because data were immediately and freshly available; secondly, because multiplying the number of countries being engaged in a single region offers an opportunity to start drawing a broader picture of the pre-positioning situation at a regional level.
The decision is also aligned with the Logistics Cluster Preparedness unit’s country selection, to ensure that a coordination mechanism is in place to work on the support that ESUPS could offer.
